Application DeadlinesApplications are due no later than May 1, 2009, however acceptance into the Festival is limited to only 50 musicians and spots fill up quickly. Acceptance RequirementsThe Memphis Brass Festival is open to advanced high school and college undergraduate students (ages 16-23). Applicants will need a resume and a letter of recommendation from their private teacher or band director, in addition to the online application. Students who would like to be given special consideration for acceptance can include a CD recording of solos or etudes. Scholarships- $40 scholarship: Students who have participated in regional ensembles (All-West, All-East, All-Middle All-Region, All-District, etc...) for orchestra, jazz band, or concert band.
- $75 scholarship: Students who have participated in All-State orchestra, jazz band, or concert band.
- $75 scholarship: College students who are accepted into the Memphis Brass Festival

On-Campus students: $325 - Students will live in the Richardson Tower dorms, this includes breakfast every morning.
Meal Plan: $70 - Includes buffet style lunch and dinner Monday through Friday of the Festival
*A full refund will be given if requested in writing three weeks before the start of the Brass Festival (June 19, 2009). Solo CompetitionThe Memphis Brass Festival will host a solo competition for all participants during the week. In addition to a cash prize, the winner will receive a full tuition scholarship to attend the 2010 Memphis Brass Festival. Once applicants to the Brass Festival are notified of their acceptance more information will follow. The $35 registration fee for the competition can be paid when you check in for the Festival on July 12.
Competition Rules: - We encourage you to provide your own accompanist, however the Brass Festival will provide an accompanist for all participants in the solo competition.
- The competition will take place in the Music Building and is open to the public and Memphis Brass Festival participants.
- Your piano parts must be received by June 1, 2009.
- Repertoire for the competition is solely at the discretion of the applicant.
- Memorization is not required.
- Comment sheets will be available from members of the Memphis Brass Quintet and given to all participants after the competition.

Audition RepertoireEach instrument will be required to perform: - Two contrasting pieces (one lyrical, one technical) of your choice (All-State music and/or standard solo repertoire is encouraged).
- Sight-reading
- Scales could be asked to demonstrate range and tone
Auditions will take place July 12th, Sunday evening in the Music Building. You will sign up for an audition time and be given more instructions when you check-in for the Brass Festival.
